Pteris Nipponica

'Cream-lined Japanese Brake-Fern’.

A beautiful variety of what used to be called ‘ribbon-ferns’, with cream linear variegation lightening the mid-to-dark-green fronds.

As with many other brake-ferns, the spore-bearing fronds have narrower pinnae and stand high above the sterile ones.

Hardy only in warmer gardens, but the original mother plant has survived outside in Dick Haywards garden for the last 20 years!
